Ford Reports Strong Q2 Sales, Led by Trucks, Vans, and Expanding Electrification

Ford Motor Company is experiencing a surge in demand, as evidenced by its robust second-quarter sales figures. Strong performance was seen across multiple vehicle categories, including trucks, vans, hybrid models, electric vehicles, and Lincoln. This positive momentum indicates a strong response from customers to Ford’s diverse and innovative lineup.

Ford retained its position as America’s top truck seller. The F-Series’ enduring popularity and significant growth in models like the Maverick fueled these impressive results.

    • Truck Dominance: The F-Series remains the top-selling truck in the U.S.
    • Hybrid Growth: Hybrid sales saw a dramatic increase.
    • EV Expansion: Ford’s EV sales continued to climb.
    • Van Leadership: The Transit van remains the sales leader in its segment.

Ford’s commitment to meeting customer needs is evident in its performance. Strong sales are also being driven by post-purchase experiences, like BlueCruise hands-free highway driving, the Ford Pro Intelligence software platform, and remote vehicle servicing options.

Truck and Van Sales Continue to Impress

Ford’s total truck sales, encompassing both pickups and vans, rose by 5% year-over-year, reaching 308,920 units. This represents Ford’s best Q2 truck sales since 2019. The F-Series, Transit, and Maverick all contributed significantly to these gains.

The F-Series continues to dominate the market, outselling its closest competitors, the Silverado and Ram, by substantial margins. The Maverick and Maverick Hybrid also achieved record first-half sales, with the Maverick Hybrid being the best-selling hybrid truck in the U.S.

Ford Transit, a best-selling van in America, posted a new first-half sales record. Ford set an all-time record for SUV sales during the first half of 2024, topping the previous record set in 2017.

    Hybrid Vehicles Experience Substantial Growth

Ford’s hybrid vehicles experienced a remarkable surge in sales, increasing by 56% compared to the previous year. This marked a new quarterly sales record. The Maverick Hybrid, which is the best-selling hybrid pickup in the U.S., contributed significantly to this rise. Customers are drawn to the Maverick’s combination of capability, efficiency, and affordability, with many coming from other brands.

The F-150 Hybrid also played a key role, representing a significant portion of the non-EV F-150 sales for the quarter. This demonstrates Ford’s ability to offer a diverse range of powertrain options to suit different customer preferences.

Electric Vehicle Sales Continue to Rise

Ford’s electric vehicle sales showed strong growth, increasing by 61% in the second quarter. The company is the second-leading EV brand in the U.S., with its electric vehicle sales rising by 72% for the year. The Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning contributed significantly to this growth.

The F-150 Lightning saw its sales increase by 77% compared to last year. The E-Transit van, which is America’s best-selling electric van, experienced an increase in sales of 96% during the second quarter.

    Lincoln Sales Performance

Lincoln saw its sales accelerate in the second quarter, with a 19% increase overall. The all-new Lincoln Nautilus led the way in sales, with its hybrid model accounting for a significant portion of Nautilus sales.

    Remote Services Expand Customer Convenience

Ford and Lincoln dealers continue to give customers a time-saving option. Remote Service appointments reached 1.8 million during the first six months of 2024, a 175 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023.
