Formula E’s GEN3 Evo: A New Era in Electric Racing

Formula E is revving up for Season 11 with the introduction of the GEN3 Evo, boasting substantial technological advancements.

Developed by Formula E specialists and the FIA, the GEN3 Evo takes electric racing to a new level, promising enhanced performance, sustainability, and thrilling competition.

    Key Enhancements:

    • Unprecedented Acceleration: The GEN3 Evo accelerates from 0-60mph in a blistering 1.82 seconds (0-100kph in 1.86s), making it 30% quicker than a current F1 car.

    • All-Wheel Drive (AWD): A groundbreaking feature for Formula E, AWD will be available during qualifying duels, race starts, and ATTACK MODE, maximizing acceleration and control, elevating the excitement.

    • Aerodynamic Design: The new body kit enhances the car’s strength, robustness, and aerodynamics, leading to closer wheel-to-wheel racing.

    • Grip and Sustainability: Optimized Hankook iON tires offer increased grip (5-10%) and are made from 35% recycled materials.

    Continuing Innovation

The GEN3 Evo builds upon the foundations set by the GEN3 car, which had already established new standards.

    • Speed: The new car maintains the impressive top speed of 200 mph.

    • Regenerative Braking: Cars will optimize regenerative braking to generate nearly 50% of race energy.

    • Efficiency: With an electric motor exceeding 95% efficiency, the car significantly surpasses traditional internal combustion engines.

    • Sustainability: Formula E remains committed to being the world’s first net-zero carbon sport.

    Leadership Voices

Jeff Dodds, CEO of Formula E, stated that this new car will “intensify the thrill of our racing”.

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem highlighted the collaborative efforts to push boundaries in sustainable motorsport.

In the upcoming season, expect the manufacturers to implement key learnings from GEN3 into their cars.

The GEN3 Evo is poised to elevate Formula E and captivate racers.
