Genesis GV90: A Glimpse at the Ultra-Luxury Electric SUV

Genesis is gearing up to launch its largest and most luxurious electric SUV yet, the GV90. Spy shots have emerged from South Korea, offering an early peek at its opulent design.

Genesis GV90’s design has been spotted, showcasing its ultra-luxury features.

The GV90 was initially previewed as the Neolun concept, which showcased a sophisticated and “reductive” design. Key design elements include the signature Genesis two-line headlamps and a prominent Crest grille. Premium features, such as coach doors, are expected, positioning the GV90 to compete with high-end brands like Rolls-Royce and Bentley.

The GV90 is poised to be a technological milestone for Hyundai’s luxury brand, Genesis. Inside, the vehicle will showcase the latest in Hyundai Motor’s operating system and connectivity technology. Similar to the Hyundai IONIQ 9, the GV90 is anticipated to feature dual 12.3-inch clusters and infotainment screens, presented in a panoramic curved display – but with a more luxurious feel in the Genesis model.

A new video further reveals what to anticipate. Even with camouflage, the GV90 retains much of the design language established by the Neolun concept. From the rear, it shares similarities with the GV70 Electrified, though the GV90 is notably larger. Other design cues, like the connected rear lights and bumper design from the concept, are also being carried over.

The side profile shows subtle changes, including turn signals on the fender. Despite a slightly more rounded outline, much of the original design is maintained. The two-line daytime running lights and other signature elements are derived from the concept.

Genesis is planning to unveil the GV90 later this year, with full-scale production scheduled to begin in early 2026. The vehicle is expected to be available in two trims: Standard and Exclusive.

The Standard model is rumored to have a starting price around 100 million won (approximately $80,000), while the Exclusive trim could exceed 200 million won (roughly $160,000). The Exclusive trim will pack in ultra-luxury features, like coach doors from the concept. Supply is expected to be limited.

The Genesis GV90 is particularly significant since it will be the first Hyundai Motor EV built on the new “eM” platform, designed to replace the current E-GMP. Production will take place at Hyundai’s Ulsan EV plant in South Korea.

If the premium model had a price tag of around $160,000, would you consider buying a Genesis GV90? For comparison, a 2024 Bentley Bentayga is priced slightly above $200,000. Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
