Geely to Launch Electric Vans in Australia with Luxury Features

Farizon, the commercial vehicle division of Chinese automotive giant Geely, has revealed further details about its upcoming electric van lineup slated for release in Australia this year. The SuperVan cargo hauler, also known as the SV, will be the flagship model spearheading the brand’s introduction, alongside the H9E trucks.

While the vans are scheduled to make their public debut next weekend in Sydney, Farizon plans to officially launch in Melbourne next month.

Farizon previously received approval for three wheelbase sizes within its SuperVan range but has now finalized the launch configuration to feature three electric vans. The Australian models will consist of one short-wheelbase (SWB) and two long-wheelbase (LWB) SuperVans, available in low-roof (SWB and LWB) and high-roof (LWB only) configurations.

The expected dimensions for each variant are based on information provided by the company, as well as approval documents filed with the Australian government.

Each van will be powered by an 83kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, which delivers energy to a 170kW electric motor, producing 336Nm of torque and driving the front wheels.

While full details are forthcoming, the low-roof SuperVan is projected to have a driving range of 376km on the WLTP test cycle. Significantly, it will also be the first electric van in Australia to offer vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, allowing owners to power tools and other devices using the van’s onboard battery.

Additional features include “30 different safety features,” a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, a surround-view camera, 270-degree barn doors, and heated and ventilated seats. Ventilated seats are particularly noteworthy in the commercial van segment, where they are quite uncommon.

Previous announcements have indicated that the SuperVan will be available with or without windows on its sliding side doors. All versions of the electric van will come equipped with 16-inch wheels.

While pricing has yet to be finalized, the SuperVan’s dimensions are similar to those of the LDV eDeliver 7, which comes in both short- and long-wheelbase variants with batteries of similar capacity. Consequently, it is anticipated that Farizon may price its electric van within the $60,000 to $70,000 range.

The Australian mid-sized electric van market currently includes the eDeliver 7, the Peugeot E-Expert, the Mercedes-Benz eVito, and the Volkswagen ID.Buzz Cargo. Ford is also set to introduce the E-Transit Custom this year, giving consumers even more options.
