Massachusetts Man Injured After Truck Crash in Maine
SWEDEN, Maine – A Massachusetts man was severely injured Wednesday night when the pickup truck he was driving crashed into a home in Sweden, Maine. The impact of the crash caused the home’s chimney to collapse onto the vehicle.
According to the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred at approximately 11:05 p.m. on Lovell Road. Officials identified the driver as 52-year-old Sean T. Demaggio, of Wilmington, Massachusetts.
Authorities reported that Demaggio was operating a 2020 Ford F-250 when he went through an intersection at a high speed before crashing into the residence. The truck penetrated the exterior wall of the house, and the chimney subsequently fell onto the pickup truck.
Demaggio suffered severe, life-threatening injuries in the crash. Emergency responders transported him by ambulance to Bridgton Hospital, where he was then flown by medical helicopter to Maine Medical Center in Portland. As of Thursday morning, officials had not released an update on Demaggio’s condition.
The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that no one was inside the home at the time of the crash, and there were no passengers in the truck. The crash remains under investigation, but the Sheriff’s Office has indicated that speed is likely a contributing factor.
