Workhorse Group (Nasdaq: WKHS) has been approved to import and sell its W56 and W750 electric step vans in Canada. The approval, granted through the Appendix G Pre-clearance Program, allows Canadian import dealers to distribute these zero-emission commercial vehicles nationwide.
Transport Canada validated the vehicles’ compliance with Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (CMVSS). Workhorse plans to begin on-road testing with a last-mile delivery fleet in Canada by the second quarter of 2025.
This expansion represents a significant milestone for Workhorse, as it expands its reach within the Canadian market. “This is a major step forward for Workhorse,” said Josh Anderson, Workhorse Chief Technology Officer. “Pre-clearance from Transport Canada opens up a large new market for our products throughout Canada, including with fleets that operate across borders in North America. We’re excited that our electric step vans can now reach Canadian roads and highways, providing reliable, zero-emission solutions that customers can depend on.”
Workhorse has noted strong interest from Canadian fleets eager to adopt medium-duty commercial EVs. The company is also exploring opportunities to expand its dealer network in Canada.
