The man, identified as 79-year-old Manuel Hidalgo Fierro, died following a collision with a vehicle in east El Paso on Sunday.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Montwood Drive and Lake Omega Street, according to the El Paso Fire Department. The Special Traffic Investigations Unit responded to the scene, as reported by the El Paso Police Department.
Fierro was riding an electric mobility scooter and began to cross Montwood. A 2006 Honda Element was traveling eastbound on Montwood at the same time. The vehicle had a green light, and Fierro crossed a no-walk area before being struck. Fierro was transported by ambulance to the hospital, where he later died.
