York Regional Police are cautioning the public about the dangers of towing people behind vehicles following the tragic death of a young person in Vaughan.
According to police, the incident occurred on February 12th, just before 10 p.m., in a suburban residential area near Highway 7 and Dufferin Street. A youth, who was being pulled on a sled behind a pickup truck, sustained fatal injuries.
The injured youth was transported to a hospital, where they later died. The driver of the truck, a 17-year-old, has been charged with dangerous driving and dangerous driving causing death.
York Regional Police are strongly emphasizing the dangers of towing individuals behind any type of vehicle. They stated that those found engaging in this activity could face serious charges, including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle or stunt driving.
