A pickup truck ended up submerged in the water off the coast of Southwest Harbor, Maine, on Thursday, February 27, 2025. According to the Southwest Harbor Fire Department, the incident occurred at Dysarts Great Harbor Marina when the truck’s brakes failed, causing it to crash through a dock barricade and into the water.

The driver, fortunately, managed to escape the vehicle and climb back onto the dock. The only reported injury was a minor cut to the driver’s hand. Firefighters responded quickly, finding the truck upside down with its rear end resting on the dock and its front end submerged in the mud due to the low tide.
To prevent environmental damage, firefighters immediately deployed an absorbent boom around the truck to contain any leaking fluids. A barge and crane were subsequently brought in to lift the vehicle from the water. The truck was then floated to the Manset Dock, where it was loaded onto a tow truck for removal.
