PORTLAND, Ore. – A 77-year-old man died after being hit by a pickup truck in Salem, Oregon, in the early hours of Saturday. The crash also critically injured another person and was witnessed by a teenager.
Around 2 a.m., the pickup truck struck the pedestrians on Silverton Road NE near Highway Avenue, according to Salem police. Both Raymond Dale, 77, and 49-year-old Ephraim Dale were transported by ambulance to Salem Health. However, Raymond Dale succumbed to his injuries and died. Ephraim Dale remains in critical condition, officials stated.
A 17-year-old girl was also present at the scene and witnessed the crash. Officials indicated that she was not injured. The driver of the pickup truck, a 63-year-old man from Salem, remained at the scene after the incident. The crash is currently under investigation, and no further details are available at this time.
