Motorcyclist Killed in Salt Lake City Crash
SALT LAKE CITY — A motorcyclist died Saturday night after colliding with a pickup truck at the intersection of 1700 South and State Street in Salt Lake City.
Salt Lake City police received a call about the crash at 6:14 PM Saturday. Upon arrival, paramedics found the motorcyclist unconscious and not breathing. CPR was administered at the scene before the person was transported to a local hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.
According to preliminary information released by the Salt Lake City Police, the motorcyclist was traveling south when the vehicle collided with a pickup truck that was turning left from State Street onto westbound 1700 South. The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation.
State Street was shut down following the crash. Westbound traffic on 1700 South was diverted to northbound State Street, and southbound traffic on State Street was diverted at Kensington Avenue, police reported.
Authorities confirmed this marks the second traffic-related fatality in Salt Lake City for the year. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.
