A 77-year-old man died after being struck by a pickup truck in Salem, Oregon, early Saturday morning, according to Salem police. The incident also left another person critically injured.
Authorities reported that the collision occurred around 2 a.m. on Silverton Road NE near Highway Avenue. The victims, identified as Raymond Dale, 77, and 49-year-old Ephraim Dale, were immediately transported by ambulance to Salem Health. Raymond Dale was pronounced dead at the hospital. Ephraim Dale remains in critical condition, officials confirmed.
A 17-year-old girl witnessed the crash. Authorities indicated she was not injured. The driver of the pickup, a 63-year-old man from Salem, remained at the scene following the accident. The Salem Police Department is currently investigating the circumstances that led to the crash. No further details are available at this time.
