GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – A 66-year-old woman died after being struck by a pickup truck in Grand Junction, Colorado, on Monday morning.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the driver of the vehicle was a high school student. The collision occurred just after 8 a.m. at the intersection of Warrior Way and East 1/2 Road. The intersection is flanked by a Walmart and Central High School.
“[The victim] was on the north side of the street crossing the intersection traveling east. A pickup truck heading north on Warrior Way, driven by a male high school student, went through the intersection, striking the female,” the Colorado State Patrol stated in a press release.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities are still investigating the circumstances of the crash, and it is currently unclear which party had the right of way or whether charges will be filed against the driver.
