A father and son had a narrow escape when their pickup truck caught fire while in motion in Buffalo County, according to the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office. Edmund and Brandon Fernholz were traveling on County Road BB late Sunday when smoke and flames began to erupt from the front of their vehicle. Brandon, who was driving, quickly pulled over to allow both of them to exit the truck. However, he was unable to shift the truck into park, and it subsequently rolled into a nearby wooded area.
Firefighters were promptly dispatched to the scene and swiftly extinguished the flames, effectively preventing the fire from spreading to the surrounding forest. Fortunately, Edmund Fernholz sustained only minor injuries in the incident. No further details about the cause of the fire are available at this time.
