Officials reported a speeding BMW collided with a divider on Mumbai’s Coastal Road in the Worli area on Monday, after the driver attempted to overtake other vehicles.
A video of the incident showed the car weaving through traffic at high speed, overtaking a white WagonR and a Toyota Fortuner before crashing into the right-side divider. The luxury car was extensively damaged in the crash, though the driver reportedly sustained only minor injuries. There were no reports of injuries to any other individuals.
A case has been registered against the driver at the Worli Police Station, and an investigation is underway, according to officials.
This incident follows a similar event last year on the Coastal Road, where a worker was killed after being struck by a BMW driven by a diamond merchant. That accident occurred while the road was partially open to the public. Police reports indicate that workers were performing their duties when a loud noise caught their attention, and they discovered the victim lying in the road near a blue BMW. The worker was rushed to a nearby hospital, but was declared dead on arrival.
