Although projected to become a billionaire before his retirement due to a hefty salary and numerous endorsements, NBA star Steph Curry keeps his feet on the ground, especially when it comes to his car choices.
Curry, a brand ambassador for Infiniti, the luxury division of Nissan, reportedly still drives the 2018 Infiniti Q50 he received as part of a 2017 endorsement deal, according to the US Sun.
It’s not as if Curry doesn’t have access to luxury vehicles. He owns a fleet of high-end cars, including a Range Rover Sport LWB, a Cadillac Escalade ESV, a Porsche Panamera Turbo S, and a Mercedes-AMG G55. Despite these options, he doesn’t seem to drive them as much.
One possible reason might stem from a 2018 incident. Curry was involved in a fender bender while driving his Porsche 911 GT3 RS in California. While he wasn’t injured, the experience reportedly shook him.
While he certainly has the financial means to repair or replace the Porsche, the incident might have made him wary of potential damage to his more expensive cars. It’s also possible that he feels safer in the Infiniti, although that’s less likely given the presence of his Escalade and Range Rover.
Another factor could be the stipulations of his Infiniti endorsement deal, which may require him to drive the Q50 regularly. Though, if it’s a contractual obligation you would expect Infiniti to provide Curry with newer models more often.
Regardless, Curry doesn’t publicize his wealth or show off his cars on social media. This grounded nature is a quality many fans appreciate.
