Cadillac Announces the Extended-Length Escalade IQL
Cadillac is expanding its all-electric Escalade lineup with the introduction of the Escalade IQL, a longer version of the EV designed to offer even more space and luxury. This move comes as the demand for spacious, high-end electric SUVs continues to grow.
Since 2002, the Escalade has been available in standard and extended lengths, mirroring the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, respectively. The new Escalade IQ, introduced for 2025, initially came in one size. The IQL addresses the desires of those seeking maximum space by offering a larger configuration.
Dimensions and Design Enhancements
The Escalade IQL stretches to 228.5 inches overall, 4.1 inches longer than the standard Escalade IQ and 1.5 inches longer than the gas-powered Escalade ESV. While the wheelbase, height, and width remain unchanged, Cadillac has redesigned the rear of the IQL to provide a more upright appearance, which translates to increased interior space.
This redesign is particularly evident in the third row. Legroom has been increased by 4.4 inches to 36.7 inches, and headroom is up by an inch to 38.2 inches, promising enhanced comfort for rear passengers. Larger rearmost side windows also improve the view for those in the third row.
Cargo and Interior Features
Cargo space is a hallmark of the Escalade, and the IQL is no exception. Behind the third row, there are 24.2 cubic feet of cargo volume. With the second row in place, the space expands to 75.4 cubic feet. Folding down all rear seats opens up a massive 125.2 cubic feet of space.
Inside, the IQL mirrors the standard Escalade IQ, featuring a prominent 55-inch display screen and a luxurious mix of leather, wood, and metal accents.
Cadillac offers an Executive Second Row package, featuring two stowable tray tables, dual 12.6-inch seatback screens, a rear command center, and two wireless charging pads. The seats are upgraded to 14-way power, heated, and ventilated seats with massage and headrest speakers.
Other features include seating for up to seven, a power-folding third row, a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot, bi-directional vehicle-to-vehicle or -home charging, and standard Super Cruise driver-assistance technology for three years.
Performance and Availability
The Escalade IQL retains the impressive power of the standard model, with the ability to tow up to 7,500 pounds. It also offers a range of 460 miles thanks to its 205-kWh battery pack. The IQL can add up to 116 miles of range in just 10 minutes when using a 350-kW DC fast charger. Production is expected to begin in the middle of this year.
With the Escalade IQL, Cadillac aims to cater to those who prioritize spaciousness and luxury in their electric vehicle, especially in the market of executive transportation and black car services.
