Cadillac Escalade IQL: More Space, More Luxury
The Cadillac Escalade has long been a symbol of automotive grandeur. Now, the all-electric Escalade IQ is getting the extended treatment, with the introduction of the IQL, a stretched version that promises even more space and luxury for the discerning driver.
IQL: Bigger is Better
Unlike the standard Escalade ESV, which increases length through an extended wheelbase, the IQL retains the standard wheelbase but adds length to the body. This design choice has become increasingly common in elongated SUVs, allowing for extra space without fundamentally altering the vehicle’s foundation.
The IQL stretches to an impressive 228.5 inches, surpassing the length of the Jeep Wagoneer L, the Chevrolet Suburban, and the Lincoln Navigator L. The only SUV that outclasses the IQL in length is the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, along with larger pickup trucks and high-end sedans.
The added length translates directly to passenger comfort, particularly in the third row, where occupants gain over four inches of legroom and one inch of headroom. Cargo capacity also benefits from the extension. Despite these changes, the core Escalade essentials remain: opulent luxury and striking style.
Performance and Features
Large 24-inch wheels complement the IQL’s side profile. Powering the electric SUV is a 205-kWh battery pack, which feeds an EV powertrain generating 750 horsepower. This allows the IQL to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in a brisk 4.7 seconds. While Cadillac hasn’t released weight figures, it’s safe to assume the added length and engineering contribute to a heavier vehicle compared to the standard IQ. Towing capacity is slightly reduced, down 500 pounds to 7,500 pounds.
Visually, the IQL receives larger quarter glass and a more upright rear end.
Inside, the IQL maintains a similar cabin to the standard IQ, featuring a 55-inch curved display seamlessly integrated into a dashboard crafted from high-quality materials. Second-row passengers can enjoy 12.6-inch tablet screens, contingent on the optional Executive Second Row package, which also includes a 42-speaker premium audio system, a significant upgrade from the base 21-speaker system.
The Escalade IQL is scheduled to enter production in mid-2025. It will be available in the United States, Canada, and select global markets. Cadillac has set the base price at $132,695, a $2,705 increase over the standard IQ. For those seeking the ultimate in luxury and making a statement, that price will likely be a secondary consideration.
