COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. – A woman sustained severe injuries after being struck by a pickup truck in Colleton County over the weekend, according to fire officials.
The incident occurred around 9:10 p.m. at the intersection of Charleston Highway and Sandy Dam Lane. According to Colleton County Fire-Rescue, the woman was wearing dark clothing, and the area lacked streetlights.
Following the collision, the driver of the pickup truck stopped to provide assistance. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel found the woman in a ditch near the woods upon arrival. She reported multiple injuries and was treated at the scene before being transported to the trauma center at Trident Medical Center.
The pickup truck driver was unharmed. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is currently conducting an investigation into the accident.
