Charizard-Shaped Cheeto Sells for Record Price
In a surprising turn of events that has delighted fans across the globe, a Flamin’ Hot Cheeto shaped like the iconic Pokémon Charizard has been sold at auction for a staggering $87,840.
The unique Cheeto, nicknamed “Cheetozard,” was discovered and preserved sometime between 2018 and 2022 by a sports memorabilia company called 1st & Goal Collectibles. The auction, hosted by Goldin, saw intense bidding, with 60 bids ultimately driving up the price to $72,000, plus a buyer’s premium that brought the total to its impressive final value.
Charizard holds a special place in the hearts of many Pokémon fans. Originally appearing in Pokémon Red and Blue in 1996, Charizard is a large, dragon-like Pokémon easily recognizable by its orange coloring, turquoise wings, and the flame burning on the tip of its tail.

This auction underscores the enduring appeal of Pokémon and its ability to capture the imagination – and wallets – of fans worldwide.
While the Charizard-shaped Cheeto is a one-of-a-kind item, the Pokémon franchise continues to thrive. The Pokémon Company recently released a new mobile trading card game app, Pokémon TCG Pocket, a digital version of the classic trading card experience. Interestingly, the digital Charizard cards don’t quite reach the financial value of “Cheetozard.” In other related news, the stop-motion animation company Aardman, known for Wallace & Gromit, is currently working on a Pokémon project scheduled for release in 2027.
