Ford has issued a second recall for 933 Maverick hybrid compact pickups from the 2022 and 2023 model years. The issue stems from instrument clusters that can go dark, rendering crucial safety warnings unreadable. Owners who previously had the problem addressed may need to return their vehicles for a second repair.
This most recent recall follows an earlier one in 2024 that involved approximately 63,000 Mavericks. Ford discovered that a software tool used in the initial repair process failed to upload the correct software to some of the affected trucks. To rectify this, Ford dealerships will now upload the appropriate software fix.
Ford emphasizes that recall repairs are provided at no cost to the vehicle owner. This recent action is part of a larger trend, as automakers frequently issue recalls to address safety defects, and occasionally issue follow-up recalls.
Owners are encouraged to determine if their specific vehicle is affected by checking their VIN through the recall center lookup tool.
