New Electric Cars Coming to India in Early 2025
The Indian electric vehicle (EV) market is rapidly expanding. Several automotive manufacturers are preparing to introduce new EVs in 2025. Among the anticipated models are the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, MG M9, MG Cyberster, and Tata Harrier EV. These vehicles are expected to be available in the Indian market during the first half of 2025. Here’s a closer look at these upcoming electric cars.
Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara
Maruti Suzuki is poised to launch its debut electric vehicle in India, the e-Vitara. The SUV will compete with other electric options such as the Hyundai Creta Electric and MG ZS EV. The e-Vitara is built on the Heartect-e platform, specifically designed for EVs. The vehicle will be offered with two battery pack options: a 49kWh and a 61kWh. The former will deliver 143 bhp and 193 Nm of torque, while the latter will provide 173 bhp and the same torque level. The high-spec e-Vitara variant is projected to offer a range exceeding 500 km on a full charge. The car will also include features like a 10.25-inch infotainment display, a 10.1-inch instrument display, ventilated front seats, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. Safety features will include 7 airbags and Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System).

MG M9
The MG M9, also known as the Maxus Mifa 9, is a luxury electric MPV. It is expected to be available in India in March 2025 and will be sold through MG’s premium stores. The estimated price of the car is around Rs. 65 lakh. It will be equipped with a 90kWh lithium battery and front-wheel drive. The M9 is expected to have a range of approximately 430 km on a full charge. It is a large MPV, measuring 5.2 meters in length, and will be available in 7- or 8-seater configurations, with two sunroofs. The MG M9 will feature powered front and rear seats with ventilation, heating, and massage functions. It will also feature entertainment screens for the rear section, along with fold-out ottoman seats. Sliding back doors will be another convenient passenger feature.

MG Cyberster
The MG Cyberster is an electric sports car with an expected price point of around Rs. 80 lakh. MG plans to introduce the Cyberster as the first electric sports car in India. It will be equipped with a 77kWh battery and AWD. The Cyberster delivers 510 bhp and 725 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0-100 kmph in 3.2 seconds. It boasts a CLTC cycle battery range of 580 km on a single full charge. The MG Cyberster will also feature high-end amenities, including a 10.25-inch driver display screen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree parking camera, and LED lights. It will have a unique 20-inch alloy wheel design with scissor doors. ADAS capabilities will include front collision warning, blind spot detection, and lane-keep assistance.

Tata Harrier EV
Tata Motors is planning to launch the electric version of its popular Harrier SUV. The Harrier EV was first revealed as a concept model in 2023 and is now scheduled for release in 2025. The Harrier EV will utilize Tata’s Gen 2 acti.ev platform. The body design will be based on the current ICE-powered Harrier but with specific modifications for an EV. It will have a new front grille, new alloy wheels, and an EV badge. The SUV will feature a 12.3-inch touchscreen display, a sunroof, and include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Ventilated seats and a driver’s seat memory function will also be available. Vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging are expected to be key features. It will feature an AWD system and torque of approximately 500 Nm. The Harrier EV is anticipated to be a significant contender in the electric SUV market.

Kia EV6 Facelift
Although not explicitly stated to launch in the first half of 2025, the Kia EV6 facelift is expected to be available soon in India. A teaser has revealed the new design. The facelift model first went on sale worldwide in May and debuted in India at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo in Delhi. Key features include a new front fascia with triangular LED headlights, a redesigned bumper, and updated alloy wheels, along with signature LED taillights and EV6 branding at the rear. The interior will incorporate a 12-inch heads-up display, a new steering wheel, and a digital rear-view mirror. The facelift will come with a more substantial 84kWh battery, up from the present 77.4kWh, and will allow quicker charging, going from 10-80% in 18 minutes via a 350kW fast charger.
