Ola Roadster X Delayed by Technical Challenges
The Ola Roadster X electric motorcycle, which was officially launched in February with deliveries initially planned for mid-March, is facing setbacks due to unresolved technical difficulties.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the motorcycle has not yet completed the homologation process, a crucial step to certify the vehicle as road-legal and safe for public use. The homologation process involves government certification that ensures the vehicle meets safety, performance, and emission standards.

Sources indicate that the Roadster X is experiencing problems with several key components, including thermal management, the battery pack, the battery management system (BMS), and the motor. The vehicle is offered with a range of battery pack options, from 2.5 to 9.1 kWh. However, the larger 9.1 kWh battery pack is reportedly causing issues with thermal management, raising concerns about potential battery fire incidents, a problem that has also plagued the company’s electric scooters.
These persistent technical issues are likely to delay the start of production at the Gigafactory in Tamil Nadu. While Ola Electric has been expanding its operations, the company has also faced criticism concerning a significant number of unresolved customer complaints.
