Westmoreland, N.Y. — A 22-year-old man died following a single-vehicle crash in Oneida County early Sunday morning. According to a news release from the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 1:05 a.m. Cody Tarkowski was driving a 2012 Nissan Titan pickup truck on Cooper Street in Westmoreland when he lost control of the vehicle.
The truck went off the road and struck a telephone pole, deputies reported. Tarkowski was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, 26-year-old Gabrielle Gerace, sustained minor injuries in the crash, according to officials. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
