MG to Debut New Electric SUV, the MGS5
British car manufacturer MG has confirmed its plans to launch a new electric SUV model, the MGS5, by the end of the year. The new SUV will share its underpinnings with the MG4 electric hatchback, which is already part of the company’s lineup.
The image released shows the rear of the car with a single LED light bar, a design similar to the larger MG HS SUV. Further exterior images are yet to be made public. Interior images have not been released, but MG has stated that the new MGS5 will include ‘advanced and premium features unique to this model.’
David Allison, head of product and planning at MG Motor UK, commented on the upcoming vehicle. “The MGS5 EV has all the credentials to impress, a generously equipped and spacious SUV but with the all-electric performance that MG customers enjoy so much. In terms of cabin ambience and technology this model will offer a new and greatly enhanced MG experience,” he said.
Details about the car’s powertrain have yet to be released, though it may use the same battery packs as the MG4, including 51kWh, 64kWh, and 77kWh options.
Additional details will be released in the coming weeks, including specifications, pricing, powertrain options, and both interior and exterior images.
