Wallbox, a company specializing in electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, has announced the pre-order availability of its ‘Quasar 2’ charger and ‘Power Recovery Unit.’ This new charger is designed specifically for the Kia EV9.

According to the company, the Quasar 2 is “the first bi-directional charger designed for the Kia EV9,” and it enables Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) technology for eligible owners and lessees. With bi-directional charging capabilities, the Kia EV9 can serve as a backup power source for properly equipped homes, providing power during outages or severe weather.
This feature may also help homeowners reduce electricity costs by allowing them to use stored grid energy or solar power during peak hours. Furthermore, V2H technology offers users greater control over their energy usage, enabling them to schedule charging times or direct power to specific areas of their homes.
This technology offers an innovative way to enhance the functionality of electric vehicles and also help with long-term energy sustainability. For instance, by integrating with home microgrids, EVs become active contributors to a more resilient energy network.
