Zeekr, an emerging electric vehicle (EV) brand, is set to make a splash in Australia by showcasing two of its innovative models at the Everything Electric show. The event, commencing in Sydney, will feature the Zeekr 7X electric SUV and the Zeekr Mix – two vehicles designed to highlight the brand’s technological prowess.
The Zeekr 7X and the Mix will be the focal point of Zeekr’s display, alongside the 007 performance sedan, the 001 FR, the 009 people mover, and the X, a premium SUV. Both the 7X and Mix incorporate Zeekr’s rapid-charging “Golden Battery” technology, enabling a charge from 10% to 80% in just over 10 minutes. Real-world tests by EV enthusiasts have verified this impressive charging speed.
Zeekr’s 7X can now be ordered in Europe with an expected Australian arrival slated for the second half of the year. The 7X will be offered in three variants: a Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD), a Long Range RWD, and a top-spec Performance All-Wheel Drive (AWD) model. The Performance AWD variant boasts a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of only 3.8 seconds. This is a significant improvement over the RWD model’s 6-second acceleration time, attributed to the Golden battery. The Zeekr 7X will be powered by either a 75 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) pack or a 100 kWh Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) battery in the Long Range variants. The RWD offers a WLTP range of 480 km on a single charge, with the Long Range RWD extending that to 615 km. The Performance AWD model offers a range of 543 km.
Designed for a blend of comfort, performance, and practicality, the Zeekr 7X will feature several clever storage solutions, including 32 separate compartments and 616 liters of boot space.
The Zeekr Mix, scheduled for its Australian debut at the Sydney event, introduces a range of innovative features to the EV market. These include ultra-fast charging capabilities, swivel seats, the elimination of traditional B-pillars, and a design focused on reimagining how people utilize vehicles in the modern world. The Mix’s design is adapted from a Robotaxi vehicle developed for Google’s Waymo program and will be introduced in Australia in the days ahead.
The Mix is a unique amalgamation of an SUV and a people mover, offering cutting-edge fast-charging technology that can charge from 10% to 80% in only 10.5 minutes. This charging time is faster than any locally available EV, targeting families who prioritize exploration and adventure. A key innovation in the Mix is the ease of passenger entry/exit. It includes an industry-first 1.48-meter wide entrance door. This expansive doorway is made possible by the implementation of a dual sliding door configuration and without a traditional B-pillar.
The B-pillar is integrated into the dual sliding door design. This improves the vehicle’s structural integrity, with dual pillars crafted from 2000 megapascal hot-formed steel and then fortified with a proprietary manufacturing process before being integrated into the doors. This process increases strength by 30% compared to traditional hot-formed steel, enhancing safety. Inside, the innovation continues with front seats that can swivel 270 degrees, allowing passengers to face each other, creating ideal conditions for family road trips.
In China, the Zeekr Mix is available in two rear-wheel drive variants. These are powered by a powertrain that delivers 310 kW of power and 440 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 6.8 seconds. The base model is equipped with a 76 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery, providing up to 550 km of CLTC range. This is the same battery designed to fast-charge from 10-80% in 10.5 minutes.
The Zeekr 7X, Mix, 001 FR, and the 007 performance sedan will all be presented in left-hand-drive models. Zeekr also plans to provide test drives of selected models at the Everything Electric event scheduled for March 7-9 at Sydney Olympic Park.
