Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV Scoops Luxury EV of the Year Title at car&bike Awards 2025
The Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV has been crowned the Luxury Electric Car Of The Year at the car&bike Awards 2025. This prestigious award recognizes the SUV’s outstanding features and contribution to the electric vehicle market.
Launched in India in August 2024, the EQS 680 SUV is the first all-electric vehicle to receive the Maybach treatment from Mercedes. The competition for the ‘Electric Car Of The Year’ title included the BMW i5, Porsche Macan EV, Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 SUV, and the Kia EV9, showcasing the high caliber of contenders in the luxury EV segment.

This all-electric SUV is equipped with a potent 122 kWh battery, which feeds dual electric motors, one for each axle. This setup delivers a combined output of 640 bhp and a massive 950 Nm of torque. Performance is brisk, with the SUV accelerating from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.4 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 210 kmph. Furthermore, the EQS 680 boasts a claimed range exceeding 600 kilometers on a full charge, offering a blend of luxury and practicality.
The luxury electric SUV is currently priced at Rs 2.28 crore (ex-showroom).
The EQS 680 features Airmatic air suspension as standard, with continuously adjustable damping and the ability to raise the SUV by up to 35 mm. Rear-axle steering, offering a steering angle of up to 4.5 degrees, is also standard. Drive modes include Eco, Sport, Offroad, Individual, and an exclusive ‘Maybach’ mode.
Inside, the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV is equipped with the three-screen ‘MBUX Hyperscreen’ infotainment system, which has been customized with Maybach-specific themes and color schemes. Rear executive seats with ventilation, a massage function, neck and shoulder heating, and two 11.6-inch displays for rear-seat passengers are also standard features, enhancing the luxury experience.
