BMW 5 Series Takes Home Luxury Car of the Year
The BMW 5 Series has been named the Luxury Car of the Year at the 2025 car&bike Awards. The judges were especially impressed by the sedan’s seamless combination of comfort, cutting-edge features, and dynamic driving capabilities.

The contenders for this prestigious award included the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, the Porsche Panamera GTS, and the Mercedes-Benz CLE 300 Cabriolet, making the 5 Series’ victory even more significant. The BMW 5 Series long-wheelbase (LWB) model has impressive dimensions, measuring 5,165 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,518 mm in height.
On the design front, the eighth-generation 5 Series boasts an evolved design language. It features a wider BMW kidney grille, complemented by sleek new LED headlamps. The car’s exterior showcases softer cuts and creases and a more flowing roofline, adding to its sophisticated appeal.
Inside the cabin, drivers and passengers are greeted by a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch central touchscreen display. Premium features include four-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and an 18-speaker sound system from Bowers and Wilkins, creating a luxurious in-cabin experience. Furthermore, the car offers active front seat ventilation, a panoramic glass roof, an interior camera with remote view via the MyBMW app, a 360-degree camera, and remote parking capabilities using a smartphone.
Under the hood, the sedan is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that delivers 255 bhp and 400 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system, enhancing both performance and efficiency. The 5 Series comes equipped with a standard 8-speed automatic gearbox. With this powertrain, the sedan can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.5 seconds, and it has a top speed electronically limited to 250 kmph.
