Genesis is recalling 2,736 luxury vehicles in Canada, including the G80, GV80, and GV70, due to a potential software problem that could affect the proper display of the digital gauge cluster.
The issue involves a software malfunction that may cause the digital instrument panel to flicker or fail when the vehicle is started. If this occurs, vital information, such as the speedometer, fuel gauge (or battery percentage), and warning notifications related to the powertrain, might not be visible to the driver. This could increase the risk of a crash.
The recall affects specific model years:
- 2023-2024 Genesis G80 sedan
- 2023-2024 Genesis GV80 SUV
- 2025 Genesis GV70 SUV (including the EV model)
Owners will be notified by mail and are advised to take their vehicles to a Genesis dealership to have the software updated, free of charge. The update cannot be performed over the air.
Genesis will also reimburse owners for any out-of-pocket expenses incurred because of this issue.
