WESTMORELAND, N.Y. — New York State Police are seeking the public’s help following a hit-and-run incident on Route 233 in Westmoreland last week.
According to state police, on February 27, around 5 p.m., a white Toyota Tundra pickup truck was traveling south on Route 233 when it attempted to pass another vehicle. The other vehicle was preparing to turn right into the post office parking lot.
Police said the pickup truck struck the vehicle while passing on the shoulder, causing damage to the passenger-side quarter panel and headlight. The driver of the pickup is described as a middle-aged white male.
Following the collision, the driver of the pickup truck pulled into the Westmo Car Wash parking lot to inspect the damage. The vehicle reportedly had no front license plate, and the rear plate was obscured by dirt, making the registration difficult to read. The truck also featured a red tailgate with “MAGA” written in white lettering.
The driver then left the car wash parking lot and continued southbound on Route 233 without contacting the victim.
Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the New York State Police at Troop D Headquarters at (315) 366-6000.
