Rolls-Royces have always represented the pinnacle of automotive refinement, prioritizing a smooth and silent driving experience. This makes the transition to electric power a natural evolution for the brand.
While electrification wasn’t an option in the 1960s and 70s, the inherent quality of Rolls-Royce components from that era has made them prime candidates for EV conversions. The spacious interiors and comfortable suspensions of these classic cars are perfectly suited for accommodating battery packs and delivering a stress-free driving experience.
This is the philosophy behind Halcyon, a new British brand created by electric powertrain specialist Evice Technologies. Halcyon aims to ‘remaster’ classic Rolls-Royce models, utilizing Evice’s 800V architecture and expertise. The first model to receive the Halcyon treatment is the elegant 1978 Rolls-Royce Corniche, a two-door convertible that resonated with enthusiasts on the French Riviera and in Hollywood.
Halcyon plans to build just 60 examples of the Corniche, alongside its Silver Shadow counterpart, with deliveries starting in 2026. Each car is expected to be unique, reflecting the bespoke nature of Rolls-Royce production during that period. Base specifications include a power output equivalent to 500hp and a range exceeding 250 miles – an impressive feat for an electric restomod. An optional extended battery pack, boasting 94kWh, further enhances the range. Interestingly, the Halcyon Corniche offers a similar range and power output to Rolls-Royce’s current all-electric model, the Spectre, and both cars share a similar price point.
