Volvo has provided a preliminary look at the 2027 EX60 electric crossover ahead of its anticipated 2026 debut.
The EX60 is set to be an all-electric compact crossover, joining Volvo’s existing lineup alongside the internal combustion engine-powered XC60. The vehicle was initially announced last year, but this is the first time the company has given the public a sneak peek at the design.
The teaser was shown during the launch video for the ES90 electric sedan, which was released recently. This preview shows a clay model, largely covered, and features Volvo’s signature vertical taillight design. According to previous announcements, the new model is expected to arrive sometime in 2026.
Upon its release, the EX60 will be the first to use Volvo’s SPA3 production architecture, which will succeed the SPA2 platform underpinning the new Volvo EX90 and ES90. This platform uses modular design, allowing for vehicles of various sizes to be built on the same architecture. Volvo claims this will help keep production costs down.
Volvo also stated that a defining feature of the SPA3 platform will be its structural battery packs. These packs are designed to reduce weight and cost. While details about the EX60 are scarce at this time, it is expected to be similar in size to the gas version, and will likely take styling inspiration from the rest of Volvo’s EV lineup. It is expected that, like the XC90 and EX90, the electric EX60 will be more expensive than the standard model, with pricing likely to start around $60,000.
