NEDERLAND, Texas — Authorities have identified the driver killed in a head-on collision that occurred late Wednesday night on Nederland Avenue as 40-year-old Richard Dilworth of Nederland. According to Nederland Police Chief Gary Porter, the crash happened around 11:39 p.m. in the 2000 block of Nederland Avenue, near 21st Street.
Video evidence reviewed by officials showed the SUV, driven by Dilworth, traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed in the westbound lane before colliding head-on with a westbound pickup truck. Dilworth died at the scene.
The two occupants of the pickup truck were transported to a local hospital where they were treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.
