Pickup Trucks Stolen from Southwest Barrie Homes
Barrie, ON – Barrie Police are investigating the theft of two pickup trucks from residences in the city’s southwest area on Wednesday and Thursday. Both thefts occurred while the owners were asleep, according to authorities.
The first incident took place early Wednesday morning. A white 2023 Ram 1500 pickup truck, bearing Ontario license plate number BP61557, was stolen from a home on Kodiak Terrace, near the intersection of Salem and Essa roads. Police reported that the theft occurred around 1:20 a.m. Despite available video surveillance, it had been disabled, and the theft was not recorded.
The second theft occurred Thursday on Penvill Trail, near County Road 27 and Ardagh Road. At approximately 2:30 a.m., a white 2024 Ram 1500, with license plate BZ59352, was stolen. Surveillance footage, now available on the police website, shows an unidentified individual approach the front door of the home, holding a wired device. Moments later, the truck’s lights flashed, the engine started, and the vehicle was driven away.

Police have canvassed both neighbourhoods, but no additional video surveillance has been found to help identify the individuals responsible. The Barrie Police Service has issued a reminder to pickup truck owners regarding vehicle security. They suggest: using a Faraday pouch for keys, installing an ignition defeat or tracking system, never leaving keys near the front door, and using a steering wheel locking device, an onboard diagnostic port lock, or an accelerator locking device, if possible. Police also advised that, if a garage is unavailable, parking other vehicles around the truck can prevent theft.
Residents of Barrie are able to get a free Faraday pouch by visiting police headquarters on Fairview Road with valid identification.
