Kia has revealed the first exterior images of the production-ready PV5 electric van, signaling a direct challenge to the Volkswagen ID.Buzz in the EV market. The PV5, originally showcased at last year’s CES show, is a modular electric van designed to accommodate both passenger and cargo transport needs.
The PV5 will be available in various configurations built on three core body styles. These include standard passenger vans and dedicated cargo versions, with additional specialized conversion models planned for the future. From the released exterior images, the design features a streamlined front end and a tall, flat roofline—factors that will greatly improve interior headroom.
Distinguishing features include large glass windows in the passenger version, extending to the rear, while the cargo model uses solid panels for privacy and security. The passenger van is expected to have a lift-up tailgate, in contrast to the cargo model’s twin side-opening doors for easier loading and unloading.
While the exact powertrain details are still under wraps, Kia has confirmed the PV5 was developed as an EV from the ground up. Interior photos are also forthcoming, but initial images suggest a dashboard layout with separate screens for infotainment and the instrument cluster. Further information, including interior and powertrain specifications, is anticipated on February 24th, with additional details slated for release on the 27th. Unfortunately, due to current tariff laws, the PV5 lineup is unlikely to be available in the United States, leaving enthusiasts to admire it from afar.
