GAC Aion UT Officially Launches in China

Chinese car manufacturer GAC has commenced sales of its Aion UT compact electric vehicle in China. The launch comes roughly two months after the start of pre-sales.

The Aion UT is priced competitively, with the base model starting at 69,800 yuan (around 8,900 euros). This represents a price reduction from the pre-sale price, which began at 89,800 yuan (approximately 11,500 euros) in January. The current price range for the Aion UT extends to 101,800 yuan (around 13,000 euros).

GAC is offering the Aion UT in five different trim levels, providing a range of options for consumers. Customers can choose between models with CLTC ranges of 330 km and 420 km. This model represents the third global offering from GAC Aion and is known as ‘Yingwulong’ in the Chinese market.

In terms of dimensions, the Aion UT measures 4.27 meters in length, 1.85 meters in width, and 1.575 meters in height, with a wheelbase of 2.75 meters. The vehicle’s design includes a distinctive floating roof, complemented by daytime running lights composed of 19 LED units, D-shaped headlights, and C-shaped tail lights. The base models come equipped with 16-inch rims while the higher-end trims feature 17-inch rims.

The Aion UT comes with a 100 kW front electric motor. The vehicle’s battery pack has a capacity of between 34.9 kWh and 44.3 kWh, dependent on the selected trim level. Charging times are relatively quick, a quick charge from 30% to 80% takes just 24 minutes. The car offers two range options: 330 km and 420 km, based on the CLTC standard. The top speed is 150 kph.

Inside, the Aion UT includes a 14.6-inch central screen, an 8.8-inch LCD instrument panel, and round air conditioning vents. All models are equipped with an AI voice assistant. The highest trim level includes level 2 driving assistance and ambient lighting. Standard features also encompass OTA updates, Wi-Fi connectivity, a sound system with two to six loudspeakers, and remote mobile phone control.

Customers can choose from among six exterior colors for the Aion UT: red, silver, white, beige, purple, and green. GAC plans to expand the Aion UT’s availability beyond China. The brand intends to introduce its European presence with the Aion V, an electric SUV. The initial export markets will be Norway and Portugal, with a German launch planned for the end of 2025.
