Volkswagen Unveils Affordable Electric Vehicle, ID. EVERY1
Volkswagen is expanding its electric vehicle lineup with the introduction of the ID. EVERY1, an all-electric entry-level model poised to hit the market in 2027.
Since the iconic Beetle, Volkswagen has been dedicated to providing accessible and appealing vehicles for the masses. The ID. EVERY1 concept vehicle is the latest iteration of this commitment, offering an all-electric option at an attractive price point. The production version of the ID. EVERY1 is scheduled for release in 2027, with an estimated starting price of approximately 20,000 euros. Furthermore, the ID. 2all, another model in the Electric Urban Car Family, is slated for release in 2026, with an anticipated price of around 25,000 euros. Both of these models are front-wheel drive and designed on Volkswagen’s new modular electric drive platform, MEB. The Electric Urban Car Family represents a cross-brand initiative within the Volkswagen Group, targeting the volume market.

Expanding the Electric Vehicle Portfolio
Volkswagen’s strategic plan centers on providing the most diverse portfolio in the high-volume segment, ranging from efficient combustion-engine models and advanced hybrids to fully electric vehicles. This strategy is a key part of Volkswagen’s vision for the future, particularly with the European launch of the all-electric Urban Car Family beginning in 2026.
Thomas Schäfer, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, stated, “The ID. EVERY1 completes our range, ensuring that we have the widest selection of models in the volume segment. We will now offer every customer the right car with the right drive system, including affordable entry-level all-electric mobility.” He added, “By 2030, we aim to strengthen our position as the world’s leading volume manufacturer in terms of technology and to remain a brand for everyone, as is expected of Volkswagen.”

Customer-Centric Design
Volkswagen is emphasizing a customer-defined approach for its future models. Kai Grünitz, a member of the Volkswagen Brand Board of Management responsible for Technical Development, explained, “The ID. EVERY1 demonstrates our commitment to prioritizing our customers, their needs, interests, and preferences in every stage of vehicle development.” The production version of the ID. EVERY1 will be the first model in the Volkswagen Group to feature a novel, high-performance software architecture, allowing for the integration of new functions throughout the vehicle’s lifecycle. Even after the initial purchase, customers can customize the car to suit their individual requirements.
Andreas Mindt, Volkswagen Head of Design, said, “Our goal was to create something both bold and approachable. The ID. EVERY1 has a confident appearance while remaining likeable, thanks to details like the dynamic front lights and the ‘smiling’ rear.” These design elements give the car a distinct character that resonates with people.

Enhanced Features and Capabilities
Like the ID. 2all and the ID. GTI Concept01, the ID. EVERY1 is part of the Electric Urban Car Family. The models leverage the new modular electric drive platform, MEB. The electric front-wheel drive configuration of the MEB platform maximizes both space and efficiency. The ID. EVERY1 concept vehicle can reach speeds up to 130 km/h and is driven by a newly developed 70 kW (95 PS) electric motor, with a range of at least 250 kilometers. With a length of 3,880 mm, the ID. EVERY1 is sized between the previous generation up! (3,600 mm), the ID. 2all (4,050 mm), and the current Polo (4,074 mm). The interior provides seating for four individuals and a luggage compartment with a volume of 305 liters.
Volkswagen’s Future Plans
The production version of the ID. EVERY1 set for release in 2027 represents a key component of Volkswagen’s broader electric vehicle strategy, as outlined in the “Future Volkswagen” agreement. This agreement, made with the employee representatives at the end of December 2024, aims to align economic stability, employment, and technological leadership in the field of sustainable mobility. This agreement sets binding targets and measures. The Volkswagen brand has established a three-phase plan:
- Advance: Strengthen competitiveness and broaden the existing model range. Volkswagen intends to provide a further preview of the new Electric Urban Car Family by the autumn of 2025.
- Attack: Launch nine new models by 2027; these include the ID.2all, priced under €25,000, and the ID. EVERY1, around €20,000.
- Achieve: By 2030, Volkswagen will aim to become the technological leader with the safest, most innovative, and best-selling vehicles in the high-volume segment.
