The Escalade IQ is the all-electric iteration of Cadillac’s flagship SUV. It differentiates itself from the standard, combustion-powered Escalade and shares its platform with the GMC Hummer EV and Chevrolet Silverado EV.
Performance and Range
Underneath its imposing frame, the Escalade IQ houses a formidable powertrain. Dual electric motors provide a power range between 680 and 750 horsepower, alongside 615 to 785 lb-ft of torque. The higher figures are accessible in the ‘Velocity Max’ mode.
The Escalade IQ utilizes a 24-module, 200kWh battery pack that delivers up to 450 miles of range. Moreover, the vehicle supports bi-directional charging and can add 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes using an 800-volt DC fast charger.
Ride and Handling
The Escalade IQ’s air suspension works overtime to provide a comfortable ride, although the sheer mass of the vehicle impacts road feel. Despite this, the spacious second row, premium sound system, and entertainment screens help to mitigate any discomfort.
Drivers benefit from sharp steering and responsive throttle and brake systems, especially in ‘tour’ mode. Rear-wheel steering (7.2 degrees) enhances maneuverability, while ‘arrival mode’ offers a unique diagonal driving capability.
