Luxury electric vehicles are rapidly gaining popularity, and the Acura ZDX, Genesis Electrified GV70, and Cadillac Lyriq represent some of the best options in the two-row SUV segment. These models seamlessly blend stunning design with cutting-edge technology and premium features, offering a compelling proposition for those considering a transition to electric. While they share commonalities, each SUV has distinct characteristics.

    Key Specifications

Here’s a comparison based on each vehicle’s official specifications and on-road drive impressions:

The ZDX distinguishes itself with sporty styling, while the Electrified GV70 embraces a more traditional approach, incorporating ample features and power within a refined, luxurious cabin. The Lyriq, on the other hand, incorporates a substantial dose of technology, providing a forward-thinking luxury experience.

Design: Sculpted Elegance and Modern Flair

Each of these EVs showcases a distinct personality. The ZDX, with its sculpted lines and Jewel Eye LED headlights, projects a sporty aesthetic. The Electrified GV70 adopts a more elegant approach with smoother lines and a distinctive dual-weave mesh grille. The Lyriq, on the other hand, has a futuristic vibe, featuring vertical LED lighting and a striking illuminated black crystal grille.

The ZDX and Lyriq share comparable dimensions, with the Genesis appearing more compact. Its reduced length and width make it convenient for navigating city environments and confined spaces. However, the smaller wheelbase results in less interior space for passengers.

    Powertrain: Electric Might Unleashed

Electric vehicles are known for their robust performance, and these SUVs are no exception.

The Acura ZDX Type S boasts 499 horsepower and 544 lb-ft of torque, courtesy of its 102-kWh battery, leading to vigorous acceleration. The Genesis Electrified GV70 offers 429 horsepower (and 483 in Boost Mode) from a 77.4-kWh battery and delivers 516 lb-ft of torque. The Cadillac Lyriq, with 500 horsepower, tops the ZDX, but its 450 lb-ft of torque makes it the least exciting of the three.

    Charging and Range

Range and charging capabilities represent essential considerations when purchasing an EV, and these SUVs present varied approaches.

The Cadillac Lyriq AWD leads with 314 miles of range and 190-kW charging, achieving a 10-80% charge in 30 minutes. The Acura ZDX offers 304 miles with similar charging times. The Genesis Electrified GV70 delivers 236 miles of range, but compensates with faster charging, reaching 10-80% in 18 minutes.

    Interior and Tech: Premium Features

Step inside, and it is evident that these vehicles embrace their luxury status with premium materials and advanced technology. The Acura ZDX features a minimalist cabin, incorporating leather, a panoramic moonroof, an 11.3-inch touchscreen, and an 18-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system. The Genesis Electrified GV70 creates a more premium atmosphere with options such as Nappa leather, a 14.5-inch touchscreen, and an available 15-speaker Lexicon audio system. The Cadillac Lyriq, however, offers a distinct experience with a 33-inch display, leather seating, and a 19-speaker AKG Studio audio system.

Price and Winner: Balancing Cost With Features

The Acura ZDX is priced from $64,500 for the base A-Spec to $74,500 for the Type S. The Genesis Electrified GV70 ranges from $66,950 to $73,750, and the Cadillac Lyriq starts at $58,590 up to $67,495. Destination fees of $1,350 for the ZDX and GV70 and $1,395 for the Lyriq are not included.

Our top pick is the Genesis GV70 Electrified. Although it has a shorter range, its faster charging helps to negate that disadvantage. The elegance and style of the Electrified GV70, combined with its features, make it the preferred choice, even though the Lyriq offers a lower starting price and an excellent tech-focused cabin.
