BRANDON, Fla. (WFLA) — A Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputy was injured Wednesday afternoon following a collision with a pickup truck in Brandon. Traffic camera footage captured the incident, which occurred at the intersection of Bloomingdale Avenue and Gornto Lake Road.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), the deputy was responding to a call at approximately 2:43 p.m. when the crash happened. The pickup truck entered the intersection, colliding with the deputy’s cruiser, which had its lights and sirens activated.
The collision caused the patrol car to overturn. The vehicle came to a stop after striking a nearby car. The deputy sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. No other injuries were reported.
