LG Electronics, known for its home electronics and battery technology, is venturing into the automotive interiors sector. The company plans to unveil a van equipped with its AI Home technology at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025 in Las Vegas. This marks a significant expansion from the company’s previous concept, the “vehicle you could live in forever,” which was revealed in 2022.
The LG Mobility Experience (LX) platform is designed to link the vehicle and the home through smart solutions, integrating LG’s ThinQ ON AI Home offering. This system is intended to personalize the in-van experience, offering services such as schedule management, information briefings to streamline work tasks, and the capability to order food or book accommodations. The van’s rear space is described as “space-as-an-experience,” featuring multiple giant screens, dark wood, and dark green paneling, reminiscent of a man cave aesthetic, which includes amenities like a fridge and wine cooler. These features are designed to attract the attention of automakers and create a new demand.

Beyond the entertainment and convenience features, LG’s in-van AI incorporates driver monitoring capabilities. This AI-powered system analyzes the driver’s facial expressions and monitors their heart rate to assess their physical health and emotional state, which may raise privacy concerns. While LG is engineering the concept, they aren’t planning to manufacture the vehicles themselves. Instead, their aim is to present this technology to automakers and encourage them to utilize it in their vehicle designs. The public will have the chance to explore LG’s latest innovations at CES from January 7-10, 2025.
