JEFFERSON COUNTY, Tennessee — A dump truck driver was injured and faces multiple charges after a Friday morning crash on U.S. Highway 411 near the Chestnut Hill area of Jefferson County, authorities said.
According to a preliminary report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), the incident occurred around 7:03 a.m. 63-year-old Christopher Moore was driving a dump truck southbound on U.S. Highway 411 when he failed to stop at a stop sign. The truck then crossed State Highway 92 and went through a road construction barrier, entering an active construction zone.
The THP report indicates that Moore’s truck struck the mirror of a pickup truck before colliding with the front end of a road grader.
Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Coffey stated that Moore was airlifted to a hospital via a Lifestar helicopter following the crash. The THP report noted that Moore is facing charges including driving without a license and failure to obey a traffic control device.
