Auto Industry Still Innovating Despite Auto Expo Cancellation
CINCINNATI (WKRC) – While the Cincinnati Auto Expo won’t take place in 2025 due to the Duke Energy Center’s renovations, the automotive industry remains committed to technological advancements, incorporating sophisticated features into vehicles at various price points.
“Consumers always want more, and we’re working to deliver,” stated Halli Borgfjord, a Toyota product specialist. The Toyota GR Corolla exemplifies this trend. It is powered by a unique 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine, generating an impressive 300 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque.
“That is something that is very unique. I have never seen a three-cylinder 300 horsepower engine, but Toyota engineers found a way to do it and here it is,” Borgfjord noted. The GR Corolla offers performance that rivals high-end models like the Bugatti, which costs over a million dollars, starting at around $39,000.
General Motors is also at the forefront of technological progress, with its Super Cruise feature now available in models such as the Cadillac Escalade and Chevy Silverado. Sabin Blake, General Motors Director of North American Communications, shared his experience: “I’ve actually made the drive from Detroit to Cincinnati with the car on Super Cruise and it’s a thrilling experience.” Super Cruise enables hands-free driving, including lane changes, although it’s classified as a Level two autonomous driving system and requires driver attention.
The 2025 Ram 1500 pickup truck introduces a 10.25-inch passenger display. This screen is designed to prevent driver distraction by remaining visible only to the front passenger. Passengers can use it to enter GPS destinations, view camera feeds, and stream videos. Moreover, Ram has increased the luxury of the vehicle by adding massaging seats with 20-way adjustments.
As technology continues to advance, vehicles are becoming quicker, safer, and more intelligent, thereby enhancing the driving experience for greater ease and comfort.
