The EV brand Avatr Technology, supported by Changan Automobile, CATL, and Huawei, has officially launched the limited-edition Avatr 012. The four-seater electric sedan, which is based on the Avatr 12, is limited to just 700 units globally and is aimed at high-end consumers who prioritize fashion.

Pre-sales for the Avatr 012 began in August of last year. The model maintains the same starting price of RMB 700,000 yuan ($96,420) as announced during pre-sales, significantly higher than the Avatr 12’s starting price.
The Avatr 012 represents Avatr’s second limited-edition model, following the Avatr 011, which was launched alongside the Avatr 11 pure electric SUV in August 2022. The Avatr 012 was co-created with Avatr’s chief design officer Nader Faghihzadeh and Dior and Fendi artistic director Kim Jones, emphasizing its premium positioning.
The Avatr 012 features a length of 5,020 mm, a width of 1,999 mm, and a height of 1,469 mm, with a wheelbase of 3,020 mm. While sharing a body structure with the Avatr 12, the 012 distinguishes itself through custom paintwork, unique interiors, and special features such as the wheels. The model is equipped with Huawei’s DriveONE dual-motor system, which delivers a total power output of 402 kW. This setup allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds, with a top speed of up to 220 km/h.
The vehicle uses a CATL Qilin Battery pack with a capacity of 93.4 kWh, supporting 5C charging. This allows the battery to charge up to 80 percent in as little as 10 minutes, providing a CLTC range of 650 kilometers. The model also includes Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 3.0 driver assistance system, which offers advanced smart driving features including Navigate on Autopilot in cities.
Avatr was formerly known as Changan Nio, which was established on July 10, 2018, as a joint venture between Changan and Nio. Nio has since withdrawn from the company. In late August 2021, Changan, CATL, and Huawei collaborated to update the Avatr brand, with a focus on building EVs based on the CHN architecture, where C stands for Changan, H for Huawei, and N for CATL.
