In the evolving landscape of automotive luxury, Cars.com’s editors have chosen the vehicles that best represent the pinnacle of their class, excelling in both opulence and practicality. Several vehicles stood out, but one, in particular, takes the lead.
Winner: 2025 Genesis Electrified GV70
- Starting price range (all prices include destination charge): $68,400-$75,200
- Estimated electric driving range: 236 miles
- Estimated combined efficiency: 91 mpg-equivalent
-
Base powertrain: 429 horsepower with 77.4-kilowatt-hour battery; dual-motor all-wheel drive
The rise of luxury vehicles coincides with the increasing popularity of electric cars. This “peanut butter and chocolate” combination—a serene, smooth EV powertrain paired with leather and wood trim—is exemplified by the 2025 Genesis Electrified GV70, which earned Cars.com’s Best Luxury Car of 2025.
A 77.4-kilowatt-hour battery pack fuels dual 160-kilowatt motors, providing a combined 429 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. Although some competitors may offer more power, the Electrified GV70 excels in its combination of electric performance and Genesis’s class-leading interior design, presentation, and materials.
The Electrified GV70 counters its moderate range with high-speed DC fast-charging capabilities. Genesis claims that the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes under ideal conditions. Moreover, the Electrified GV70’s vehicle-to-load function provides 3.6 kW of power for appliances and campsites.
The Electrified GV70 retains Genesis’ stylistic approach, successfully merging elegance with sporting aggression via a glittering, cascading grille matrix and the signature split headlight design against the exterior’s subtly muscular details. Inside, premium materials such as metal, crystal, leather, and microfiber adorn the cabin, offering a luxury experience exceeding that of most vehicles under $100,000.
The Electrified GV70 also delivers an impressive driving experience. We found it to be one of the most satisfying EVs on the road, partly due to its avoidance of some of the common annoyances found in other models. Its ultra-comfortable ride is complemented by the GV70’s dynamic handling, which benefits from the camera-based Road Preview adaptive suspension and Genesis’s skilled chassis tuning.
The Electrified GV70 starts at $68,300, a price that undercuts the competition while offering a balance of luxury and performance expected from the Korean luxury brand. This combination elevates the GV70 to the top spot.

Even in its eighth year, the Lexus LC 500 continues to impress with its stunning design, luxurious leather-lined interior, and powerful 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V-8. More of an “Aston Martin by way of Lexus,” the LC 500 is one of the most exotic cars available under $200,000. The interior features rich leather and real metal trim, with dramatic lines and flowing surfaces. Lexus’s switch to a touchscreen infotainment system for the 2024 model year further elevated the LC 500. The LC 500 remains a strong choice for those looking for a grand tourer.
