Zuckerberg’s Automotive Adventures: Beyond the Exotic
Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Meta, Inc., has recently offered glimpses into his life beyond the tech world. Known for live streams and his electric surfboard, the Silicon Valley billionaire also has an interest in cars. He recently revealed his current go-to is a Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing. While this car choice is already a step above the typical commuter vehicle, Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan Zuckerberg, have also shown a penchant, like many wealthy individuals, for Porsche. He recently commissioned a custom Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT “minivan” for his wife, modified by West Coast Customs.
This custom vehicle features sliding doors and a Crayon color finish, seemingly designed to match the 911 GT3 Touring. Though the modified Cayenne Turbo GT is fast, with 650 horsepower and a 0-60 time of 3.1 seconds, I propose two alternative vehicles that might catch the eye of a true car enthusiast.
One: Customized Minivans
The impetus behind Zuckerberg’s custom Porsche “minivan” presumably stems from a general perception: that minivans are inherently uncool. While Zuckerberg hasn’t explicitly discussed his reasoning, the idea behind this project is understandable. The minivan has long been a subject of ridicule, a symbol of suburban conformity. However, for an auto enthusiast, a customized minivan offers a unique canvas for personalization.
Perhaps the best example of this is Ben Baller. The Los Angeles-based jeweler and media personality, known for crafting jewelry for hip-hop stars and championship rings, also shares a passion for cars. His ‘K-Town Destroyers’ fleet of supercars is well-known, but his customized Chrysler Pacifica is something special. Partnering with Vankulture, Baller transformed his family hauler with a body kit, lowered suspension, and unique interior appointments. “I can be a dad and push the kids to school or be driven in this while holding down meetings,” he said. If customized minivans are cool for Ben Baller, why wouldn’t they be a fitting choice for the Zuckerbergs?
Two: The Toyota Alphard/Vellfire
Next up is the Toyota Alphard. The Alphard is a luxury minivan offered by Toyota in Asian markets, but not officially sold in the United States. The Alphard offers a level of luxury that rivals high-end sedans, with features like massaging seats, a split rear sunroof, ambient lighting, and personal tablets. Its styling also commands attention.
The Alphard’s sibling, the Vellfire, might appeal even more to the Zuckerbergs. The Vellfire features a blacked-out grille, sportier suspension, and engine tuning. And, like the West Coast Customs Porsche, the lack of availability in the US makes it extremely exclusive.
Conclusion
While I’m not criticizing the Zuckerbergs, I think Mr. Zuckerberg could benefit from experiencing a new community of like-minded car enthusiasts. Perhaps the Meta CEO could lead the meme czars to write a new dozen Xzibit-inspired “Pimp My Ride” jokes. What cars do you think should go in the Zuckerberg garage?
