BMW Adds Sport Collection Edition to X1 Range
BMW has expanded its X1 range by introducing a Sport Collection edition to the entry-level X1 sDrive 18i small SUV. This special edition package is inspired by similar Sport Collection models in the 1, 2, and 3 Series ranges.
Key Features of the Sport Collection
The Sport Collection package is based on the X1 sDrive 18i model and includes several desirable features that enhance both the exterior and interior of the vehicle. Key additions include:
- M Sport styling package with revised front and rear bumpers
- 18-inch bi-colour alloy wheels
- Adaptive M suspension for improved handling
- Panoramic glass sunroof
- Metallic paint available in four different shades
- ‘Badge delete’ package removing sDrive 18i badging
Inside, the Sport Collection edition features:
- Black faux leather upholstery (standard on regular model)
- ‘M Hexacube’ pattern dash inserts
- Heated front seats
- Electrically adjustable front seats with driver’s memory
Pricing and Comparison
The BMW X1 sDrive 18i Sport Collection is priced at $72,900 drive-away. In comparison, a standard X1 sDrive 18i starts at $61,800 plus on-road costs, or $67,659 drive-away in Sydney. While the Sport Collection offers several premium features, it lacks some components available in other configurations, such as premium audio and a heated steering wheel.
Technical Specifications
The powertrain remains unchanged from the standard sDrive 18i model, featuring a 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine producing 115kW and 230Nm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Standard features carried over from the base model include:
- 10.7-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Dual-zone climate control
- Head-up display
- Powered tailgate
- Adaptive cruise control
- Keyless entry and start
Availability
Deliveries of the BMW X1 sDrive 18i Sport Collection are scheduled to commence in the third quarter of 2025 (July to September). The addition of the Sport Collection edition provides customers with a more premium option within the X1 range, bridging some of the gap between the entry-level sDrive 18i and higher-spec models like the xDrive 20i.
