The BMW i3, a pioneering compact electric vehicle, initially introduced in 2013, was one of the first electric cars in the luxury European market. Its unique features included carbon-fiber bodywork, unconventional forward-opening rear doors, and large-diameter, skinny wheels designed to minimize rolling resistance. However, despite these innovations, the i3 never achieved widespread popularity.
One of the primary challenges for the i3 was its limited range. The original version could travel approximately 145 kilometers on a single charge, although this range significantly improved during the vehicle’s production run.
