Detectives are investigating the discovery of two bodies found in an abandoned pickup truck in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The grim find occurred along State Route 35, approximately three miles south of Castle Rock State Park.
A tow truck, escorted by a California Highway Patrol (CHP) cruiser, was seen hauling away the pickup truck, where the bodies were discovered. The location, a remote stretch of Skyline Boulevard with few residents and no visible surveillance cameras, has become the center of an active and ongoing investigation.
Castle Rock State Park, a popular destination for hikers, is nearby. The news of the discovery has left many stunned.
“No, that’s pretty weird. That’s not a normal thing. But I guess we’ll find out some more answers, huh?” commented one hiker, reflecting the shock felt by many in the community.
In an official statement, the CHP indicated the deaths are currently classified as suspicious. “Two individuals were located in a vehicle. As the deaths were not witnessed, they are coded as suspicious until a coroner can confirm cause and manner of death,” the statement read.
The CHP further stated that they would follow any investigative leads that emerge from the autopsy results. Detectives are awaiting the coroner’s findings to shed more light on this developing mystery in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
